Rainforest Tour
Tuesday 14 October 2008, 1015 - 1730
The Daintree rainforest is known around the world as the most famous tropical rainforest in Australia. Our first stop will be Mossman Gorge, where you will discover rainforest walking tracks and refreshing pools of crystal clear cool water boarded by moss covered rocks. The surrounding ancient rainforest will give instant release from the tropic heat and wildlife is found in abundance.
Join us next for a calm water cruise of the Daintree River observing the wildlife that inhabits this environment. Your driver/guide will point out the different types of wildlife and plants that make their home along the river. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive and fearsome estuarine saltwater crocodile.
Savour a BBQ Lunch at the Daintree Eco Lodge’s Bilngkumu Restaurant. With its balcony terrace overlooking the peaceful freshwater lagoon, the restaurant is accessible only via elevated boardwalks through the lush rainforest.
Crossing the Daintree River aboard an authentic ferry, your next stop is The Daintree Discovery Centre. Established in 1989, the Daintree Discovery Centre has grown over the years to become a widely recognized leader in the field of eco-tourism. It offers a world class interpretive facility, allowing visitors easy access to unique rainforest wilderness. The centre provides a number of ways to enjoy the area, including a guided boardwalk tour, a 23 metre Canopy Tower and a comprehensive display centre. A refreshing afternoon tea will be served here.
On your journey back to your accommodation, it is time to sit back and reflect on your day.
